Veteran's Day Flag Raising

The University of Pennsylvania proudly hosts its Annual Veterans Day Flag Raising Ceremony, held each November, is a significant event dedicated to honoring and recognizing the sacrifices made by veterans. This ceremony serves as a poignant reminder of the bravery and commitment exhibited by those who have served in the armed forces. For more information please check our Events page.

The ceremony typically takes place on College Green, a central and symbolic location on campus. However, in instances of inclement weather, such as rain, the event may be relocated to an indoor venue, ensuring that the commemoration proceeds with dignity and respect.

The Veterans Day Flag Raising Ceremony is not just an event; it is an opportunity for members of the Penn community to come together in support of veterans. Various organizations within Penn collaborate to organize this event, showcasing a commitment to honoring military service members. The involvement of student groups and veteran associations highlights the importance of inclusivity and recognition within higher education settings.  It provides a platform for reflection on their sacrifices while fostering a sense of unity within the campus community.
