OEOP Virtual Brown Bag Sessions

This report outlines the plan to offer employment themed, virtual learning sessions to a workplace audience. The objective of this program embraces the tradition of brown bag meetings to foster collaboration, share knowledge, and creativity among meeting members. The Zoom link will be added closer to the date. All sessions will be scheduled from 12 noon to 1 p.m.

Unarmed Truth & Unconditional Love: A Student Poetry Reading

You are cordially invited to join Penn Talent Search and the Office of Equal Opportunity Programs as we celebrate the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by presenting a group of Talent Search Scholars students from across Philadelphia from grades 6 through 12. Our students have created a series of poetry readings highlighting Dr. King’s work around community and social justice. In our fourth year of this event, these talented students never fail to inform and inspire.

Office of Equal Opportunity Programs Lecture Series

The lecture series is sponsored by the Office of Equal Opportunity Programs and intends to give insight and opportunity with an increased understanding surrounding issues focusing on today's perspectives. The series is designed to introduce an essential component of education with encouraging civil debate, broadening the basis for critical thought and cultural understanding. The lectures consist of a series of presentations by members of Penn’s intellectual community in the areas of education, medicine, religion and the arts.

Dr. Marcia Chatelain (SAS) who will talk about her book, Franchise: The Golden Arches in Black America. Exploring how the fight for civil rights has been intertwined with the fate of black business in America.

November is Native Heritage Month.  

The Penn Native Community Council (PNCC), in collaboration with the Penn Libraries Collections Department, will explore some of the great works in the libraries collections that were created by people indigenous to the United States and North America.  With books ranging from academic sociological works to comedic essays, as well as films both documentary and fictional, these selections offer slices of life from a diversity of Native American communities and experiences.

November is a time to celebrate the rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories and to acknowledge the important contributions of Native and Indigenous peoples. Our annual Veterans Day Flag Ceremony honors the service of veterans for their service and sacrifice for the common good.
